Meet your facilitator and guide.

Hi! I'm Kate.

I've spent the last 25 years working with leaders and learners, helping them understand themselves. I focus on what it takes to think clearly, act intentionally, and achieve meaningful results in complex environments.

Over the years, I've observed a pattern:

The most effective people use simple tools to get things done.

This is the idea behind pAper©.

If you'd like to know more about me, you can visit the about page. And you can experience my love of handwritten notes with this short video.

pAper© is a learning pathway to greater effectiveness that begins with the simple act of putting pen to paper.

Let's turn our attention from getting organized to being effective.

A pAper© approach

pAper© is a practical analog productivity method designed to help you build a personalized system for managing your priorities, time, and responsibilities. Instead of relying on pre-designed planners or productivity apps, pAper© teaches you how to create your own tools using simple handwritten practices.

For many people, writing things down becomes a simpler alternative to productivity apps and rigid systems—and a clearer way to focus on what matters most.

What you will learn.

The five Lessons for Effectiveness in the pAper analog productivity approach: purpose, priorities, preferences, process, and practice.

When you choose pAper©, you will encounter five Lessons for Effectiveness to help you identify and create a planning system that works for you.

  • A Lesson for Purpose

  • A Lesson for Priorities

  • A Lesson for Preferences

  • A Lesson for Process

  • A Lesson for Practice

pAper© teaches you a practical approach to personal effectiveness. It does not rely on prescriptive forms or costly supplies. It's productivity without apps. It is personalized and simple.

Why analog productivity works.

The key to pAper© is to establish an analog productivity approach.

This means putting pen to paper and making a physical, handwritten record of your priorities, tasks, and other responsibilities. If you are looking for a digital or mobile solution, paper may not be for you. And that’s okay! Many people do find typing easier and feel confident and effective when using digital tools. There are some efficiencies to be gained with digital tools. But analog practices have the advantage when it comes to learning, memory, and outcomes.

Research from Princeton University and UCLA found that while students typing notes captured more information, those who wrote notes by hand retained more and performed better on tests—especially with conceptual material.

What was fascinating about this lesson is that you start seeing themes about yourself. It really got my mind going! And it immediately made me feel better about myself, but it was scary at the same time, because I had to be honest and vulnerable. It was uncomfortable and fun at the same time.

What makes pAper© special is its focus on personal effectiveness—not as a prescriptive system, but as the result of reflection and thoughtful choices.

After pAper© you will have:

• a personal weekly planning system
• a clear method for capturing
priorities and tasks
• a repeatable way to plan your work each week
confidence that your system actually fits your life

If you're ready to write things down, design your own methods, and experiment with simple analog tools to manage your work and responsibilities, then pAper© may be exactly what you're looking for. Because effectiveness is not about finding the perfect planner. It’s about creating a system that fits how you work.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the pAper© method?

pAper© is a personal effectiveness framework that helps people design their own productivity system using simple handwritten tools.

Who would use pAper©?

It's for you if you've invested in planners and systems and apps that promise to transform you into a productive beast, but you still feel disorganized. pAper© is for anyone who knows they are capable of reaching their goals if only they had the right tool.

Is pAper© a planner?

No. It is a learning path for creating a personalized planning system rather than using a pre-designed, licensed planner.

Why use handwritten productivity tools?

Research shows handwriting improves memory, comprehension, and conceptual understanding compared with typing. (Check out some of the articles we shared in the “Research & information about handwritten planning” section of this page.)

Am I required to join a cohort if I want to learn how to use pAper©?

Not at all! We are beginning with a small pilot cohort so participants can experience the Lessons for Effectiveness together and provide feedback on the learning experience.

Later in 2026, these same lessons will also be available as a self-study option for those who prefer to learn independently.

Why should I join a pAper© cohort if I can do a self-study?

The cohort is for those who want more support during their learning experience, as well as the opportunity to receive direct coaching and increased accountability with a group of people who share their interest in becoming more effective.

Will I have to buy templates from onetwentythree ltd if I want to use pAper© once I’ve finished the lessons?

Nope! The pAper© approach is designed to help people create their own tools.

However, some people prefer examples or starting points, so we will also offer optional templates for purchase. The template library is expected to open in late May 2026.
